CHA by Kerrie Gurney

#couturecreationsaus

Hi everyone  Kerrie here, with a glittery and simple layout.
The photo was taken on the first day at CHA 2014 Anaheim
It was our first time as exhibitors at CHA and I was lucky enough to be one of the team that travelled across the pond to attend.
As our parent company name is Artdeco Creations we thought it would lots of fun for our first CHA to dress up in the Great Gatsby theme. Don't Tracey and Lesa  look fabulous.

Our stand thanks to the design talents of Sharon looked fabulous and as you can see so did we :)
We all had such a fun time together and most importantly visitors to CHA loved our stand, costumes and of course our fabulous products.

Onto my layout
My glitter obsession is back, so once again everything in my house is covered in glitter.
One can never have too much glitter ...right?
Here is how I created my glittery layout

Using  Couture Creations 12mm Double Sided Tape create stripes on your white base card.
Make sure you burnish/rub  the strips using an embossing tool or bone tool so they are stuck fast.

Remove the backing paper a few strips at a time and sprinkle with glitter, tapping off the excess

Work your way across the page, I find it easier to tip the glitter into a large container. It controls the glittery mess slightly :)

here is a look at all those glittery stripes. Use a duster to remove stray glitter.

If you don't buy the long border dies because you don't have long cutting plates, well I am telling you don't need them
All you need to do is die cut one half of border

carefully, turn it around and die cut the other end.
I don't recommend using our Quick Release Die Paper when doing this as the die will start to release and then move giving a double cut.

Cut Moulin Rouge die in half

close up look at border die, finish off with some gemstones

Quick Simply but effective
I hope you have enjoyed my quick tutorial.

Birds and Blooms Happy Birthday Card by Michelle Frae Cummings

#couturecreationsaus

Hello Couture Fans!

Michelle here again, sharing another creation as June's Guest Designer.
I am always in need of Birthday cards and never seem to have enough.
But now with these versatile Couture Creations dies, the possibilities are endless and I will always have the perfect card!

The background paper I chose for this card was very thin, so the first time I embossed it with Fretboard from The World Fair Collection, I noticed the paper cracked.
So for the second piece, I placed the background paper on a piece of manilla envelope into the embossing folder before running through my die cutting machine.
As you can see in the results below, this worked beautifully.

Before adhering the embossed background paper onto my card base, I gently tore the edges with my fingers, then lightly sanded the embossed design for a vintage rustic look.

Here is how I made the Birthday banner using bakers twine and washi tape.
Super cute and oh so easy!

I placed piece of turquoise cardstock in my die cutting machine with the Look in My Window Decorative Die. I then trimmed of the shutters before placing some vintage music sheet paper behind the window pane.

To place the flowers in the window box securely, I glued the flowers down but also used some thin washi tape to hold the stems in place. Next, I placed bits of foam tape (as shown) and folded the window box up onto the tape.
I lightly inked the window box with white chalk ink, then added some character to the box and window with a fine black pen.

The birds were a delight to make and so easy!
Simply place a bit of wide decorative yellow washi tape on a scrap of yellow cardstock.
Place the Bird Song Decorative Die on to the washi and run through your machine.
Accent the birds eyes with your black pen and glue into place.

Add your sentiment to the window box, glue in place the banner then ink the cards edges if desired.

I am very much loving this card and I hope to have inspired you you create one of your own.

A Flight of Dragonflies by Tracey Cooley

#couturecreationsaus

Hi Everyone
A quick card from me today! All those lovely ladies who did my class at the Brisbane Paper Craft Expo will recognise this gem...It is similar to one we made with a few differences.
Question: What do you call a group of Dragonflies?
Answer: A Cluster or a Flight (hence the title of my post)

I love a bit of glitter and Core'dinations Glitter Silk Cardstock abates my glitter obsession!
I love it because
a. it die cuts like a dream with Couture Creations Dies,
b. the glitter does not flake off and
c. its super glittery!
I have used 3 different colours of Blue Glitter Silk, Bermuda Bling, Sparkling Water and Regal Royal....Even the names are glittery! Oh and of course Core'dinations Foundations Bright White for the base of my card.

Firstly I cut my Bright White to the size card I wanted and from the leftover cut my top mat which I then embossed with the Couture Creations Great Fubu Embossing folder from the Marriot Collection.
This is a super cute folder that reminds me of foliage on another planet!
( I know strange, right? But you know what I mean, like something from a Disney movie. I love it!!!)

(see what I mean?)

I then used a matching blue felt tip pen to trace around some of my alien foliage to highlight it ;)

Using the very pretty top layer die of the Couture Creations Van Roe Dragonfly Set I cut several dragonflies from all 3 colours of Glitter Silk cards stock. I also cut the first mat from Glitter Silk Regal Royal.

Folding their little wings up so they look like their flying, I then added them to the front of my card to form a Flight.

ALL DONE!

The Moments Card and Matching Envelope by Jowlina Nolte

#couturecreationsaus
Welcome back to today's post I hope you are finding lots of inspiration on using the new (and old) Couture Creations dies. I am finding that I am using them more and more as I see how creative the team has been with them. So here's what I did with my dies today....
I wanted to create an element for the front of a card that looked old and worn with some sparkle at the same time. So I used the Polaroid die and the Devonshire lady to create the front of my card. I first cut the Polaroid frame out of patterned paper and then inserted a piece of white and then added my punched circle.

I made a matching envelope for my card using the Damask Delight Paper Pad

For my decorative envelope seal I used the Elegant Square die. When I was playing around with the cut element I moved it around and suddenly it turned into a diamond shaped frame. I loved the look of it and so went with that. I added an insert inside using patterned paper and gave the frame a embossed and glitter treatment. I like the way you can manipulate your die-cuts into something new for a different look.

To add an accent colour I used the gemstones in a gold - I picked the colour from the hand dyed ribbon I used on my card

small die cut flowers add some additional colour to my card alongside paint splatters

and a close up of the embossed floating glitter treatment on my die-cuts

and the same treatment on my envelope closure

step 1 - die cut your frame and Devonshire lady out of plain white cardstock

step 2 - Cover the frame in a gold burnishing paste - I use a soft cloth or my finger tips to wipe the die-cut with the gold burnishing paste. This gives the white a light gold colouring and a soft shimmer

step 3 - After the burnishing past I wipe a layer of gold glitter glue across the frame using my finger. TIP - wiping the glitter glue with your fingers avoids streaky marks from the plastic tip

step 4 - leave the glitter glue to dry and then emboss the frame and lady with a layer or two of clear embossing powder. The gold glitter flakes seem to float inside the embossed clear layer and gives a really luxurious and classy look to the die cut elements

I hope you are inspired by these wonderful dies and their versatility - and here are the direct links to the wonderful products. Remember to look online for more inspiration and visit our Facebook page for daily inspiration. Here's wishing you a wonderful and "cutting" creatively week!

Happy Birthday by Patricia Basson

#couturecreationsaus

Hello Blog friends....

Having a few male birthdays coming up soon, I created this masculine card that I am sharing with you today.
For this card I used two embossing folders from Couture Creations.

One of our newest ranges is the Marriot Collection which includes this beautiful, detailed Wire Barbs embossing folder. I also used an earlier released folder from the Who What Wear collection, Driving Miss Daisy. I have used two sheets of Patterned Papers from the Sew Jo Paper Pad.

I taped a piece of  foil to a piece of cardstock and embossed it with the Wire Barbs folder. I then coloured it with three colours of Alcohol Inks. I used it as a border strip and also as a small tag on the card.

For the car I used a light blue and black sheet of  Core Color cardstock from Core'dinations. My sanding was of course done with my Couture Creations Sanding block. I layered the wheels with 3D Foam Dots and also layered the doors. I  used a little Black Glitzin' Glamour Glitter glue on the roof and wheels of the car.

Items used on this card....
