Treasure the Time by Tracey Cooley

#couturecreationsaus

Hi Everyone

As we leave 2015 behind and start to make our resolutions for the coming new year, I thought that it might be a good time to Treasure The Time and Love the Moments.
I am not sure about you guys but my year just flew past, and it is just now that I am reflecting on the things I brushed off as not important or the things I rushed by to get on with life.
So I would like to remind some of my friends and family to maybe, next year...stop, laugh and smile. Because they will blink and 2016 will be over too.
So I thought a new years card with a difference was in order!!

To make this card I did a lot of layering using the Couture Creations Vintage Rose Garden 6x6 Paper Pad. I first cut a card base from Ultimate Crafts Card stock - Paper Bag at 6 1/2' x 8' and folded it in half. then using the Vintage Rose Pattern paper I cut a 6 x 3 1/2 mat and adhered to the base directly.

I then cut another card stock mat at 5 1/2 x 3 inches and mounted that to the base using Couture Creations foam mounting tape.
followed by to more pattern paper mats at 5 1/4 x 2 3/4 and 5 x 2 1/2.
Distressing the edges of the pattern paper as I went
I then added some hessian that I cut at 4'x2' and frayed the edges slightly.

I added some pleated trim across the center and Cut a Perfectly Petite Doily Irish Lace to the right side of the trim.
I then added some small roses in matching colours before adding some Couture Creations Self Adhesive Gemstones.

I then found the quote pattern paper in the 6 x 6 Vintage Rose Pattern Paper Pad and cut the words Laugh and Smile out to add to the front of my card.

Then I added the quote that started me thinking!
TREASURE THE TIME
LOVE THE MOMENTS.

Make sure you take time today....
Before the stroke of midnight to think about all those things that past us by so very quickly.
and when you do...
don't forget to Laugh and Smile.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful, happy and safe
2016

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Sweet 16 Birthday Card by Kerrie Gurney

#couturecreationsaus

Hello to you all Kerrie here
yesterday was my baby girls' 16th birthday.
I cannot believe she is now old enough to get her learners permit and only has two more years of school and then that is it for me no more school age children ...I cannot believe how quickly these last 16 years have gone by.
For those of you with young children please cherish every moment because in the blink of an eye they will be all grown up.
If you visit my blog you can see some photos from her party that she had earlier in the month, they are not fabulous photos as everyone started arriving early so I quickly took them with my phone

Anyway enough of that here is the card I created for her using one of my favourite Couture Creations Perfectly Petite Doily Dies ..young and fresh white on white with a touch of tiffany blue and gold but oh so simple and quick to create

Die cut 9 x Victoria Perfectly Petite Doily Die from white cardstock

cut them all straight across the middle

Cut a piece of white cardstock to 13cm x 30cm fold in half and then cut 2cm off the front

Start layering up your half doilies using 6mm Double Sided Tape to adhere them to the base card. I stuck both sides first then popped the middle doily on.
Once all the doily layers are on run another strip of double sided tape and  hand pleat a piece of ribbon on

Create some interest to the top of your card by scoring some lines using the Handheld Essentials stylist and the Couture Creations trimmer as a guide.
TIP: Make sure you work from the back of the card so the line are embossed on the front not debossed

to give the flower some shimmer I painted it with the Cottonball Pearl Drops this gives a nice shimmer to the flower

Pop a bit of  frayed mulsin, gold cord and metallic gold chipboard numbers and you are done ...too easy

lots of lovely doily layers

see the score lines at the top of the card

Upcycled Floral Lantern by Tracey Rohweder

#couturecreationsaus

Hello my crafty friends! Tracey R here with you today.  Christmas has been and gone for another year.  Seriously, 2015  has just gone in the blink of an eye! I hope you enjoyed some time with family & friends, and Santa found his way to you! And if there was crafty goodies under your tree even better!! Today I'd like to share my 'Upcycled' Floral paper lantern, decorated with lots of pretty Couture Creations products.
So let's get crafting!
I found this paper lantern at my local $2 shop - for $2!
They come in many sizes and colours - I chose a small white one (20cms) to match my flowers.Measure around the circumference of your lantern and cut the required lengths of of the scalloped border die (Simone's Style) from the Amaryllis collection.  (I used 3 lengths - 2 full lengths with a small section so they met. I've used this die several times - it's so versatile & a great addition to any die collection.
Next I've die cut 5 of the Classic Vine (Vintage Rose Collection) in green Ultimate Crafts Card stock and then cut the vines in half. By doing this you can make your die cuts go further and with this particular die you can use it as foliage and smaller branches

Choosing a front point of my lantern, I've adhered the Beaded flowers (isn't the script pattern on these just gorgeous!!) using the Craft Glue Spots. You can add the flowers in any shape or pattern you like, but I've chosen to add them on an angle from the top to the bottom of the lantern. Amongst the flowers I've poked in pieces of the vine die (also using craft glue spots) to look like falling foliage. It also adds a nice pop of colour and contrast to all the white.
And like that, another project is done.
It looks really lovely lit at night too... This was earlier in the night (so you can still see the flowers)
And when it's dark dark.
I'm so happy with how this 'Upcycled Lantern' turned out.
I'd love to see if you make one yourself.
Thank you for visiting us at Couture Creations during 2015.  I've loved being able to share such fun projects with you. May your 2016 be happy, healthy and creative.   See you next year!  Thanks for dropping by.

Smile by Anita Enright

#couturecreationsaus

Hi Guys,

Oh my gosh, I can't believe 2015 is nearly done and dusted.  Where has the time gone.  I can't believe the next time I will be on the Couture blog it will be 2016.

Today I have another creation using the beautiful papers from the Vintage Rose Garden collection.  I always find myself going back to these beautiful papers over and over again.

1. To create the card base I cut a 7"x 8" piece of white cardstock and then folded it in half vertically to make a 7" long x 4" wide card base.
2. I then chose the Green Typo paper from the paper pad and cut a 6 3/4" x 3 3/4" piece to mat on the card base.

3. I also selected the Rouge Stripes paper from the paper pad to die cut my leaves and flowers on the reverse side of the paper (the paler print). I then used the Roses & Butterflies paper
and cut out the border strip.
4. I then used the reverse of the Green Typo paper to also die cut more floral layers.

5. I inked the edges of the card base and the Vintage Rose mat in a coordinating green ink to soften the edges.
6. Using the Turbo Precision Glue Pen I attached the mat to the card base and then after cutting to size also glued down the boarder strip.
7. Each of my three flowers uses two of each of the dies sets to get the fullness in each of the flowers.

8.  Once the flowers have been constructed I just put everything together.  Once I had placed the leaves down I grabbed some gauze to put under the flowers to give another dimension.
9. I had the 6x6" paper pad and cut out on of the sentiments from the Green Words paper and punched it out before mounting it on an off-cut from the the Green Typo paper. This was tucked in slightly behind the flowers.
10. I hate fussy cutting but I have to say they always add to what you are creating so I cut out a couple of flowers from the Roses & Butterflies paper and I popped them in under the 3D flowers.
11. A couple of gemstones and pearls to the middle of the flowers and it's done :)

Below are a couple of close ups of the card.

Too Dam Cute by Lesa Bird

#couturecreationsaus

Hello all
welcome to my 2nd December post,
here I've used dies from the all of these collections
Couture Creations
Ultimate Crafts
Invali
From the Everyday Essentials, I cut 2 of the Classic Leaf in cardstock and the Edith butterfly form Edith and Baby, in patter paper covering it with glue, and topping with glitter

take the Flourish from Elegant Card Cuts, Mercato Flourish, this I have used as a leaf vine behind my flower

Secret Gardens Butterfly Flourish, is a lovely addition to my flourish cluster

Again from pattern paper, I cut one Invali Fancy Butterfly

Using one Camden Cottage Rose, spritz with colour, touch the edge of some of the petals with a paintbrush, then lightly spray with spray adhesive, and glitter sprinkled over that, shake off excess glitter, makes for a very nice glittered flower

all your elements are now ready to put together, add a few other bits and piece, and your done, have a play with these dies, but most of all have fun with them
