Sampler Card by Tracey Cooley

#couturecreationsaus #ultimatecrafts

Hi Everyone

As I am gearing up for the Brisbane Papercraft Expo on the 10th, 11th and 12th of June I have a very quick card for you all today!
On more than one occasion that one of my children has come to me the night before and friends birthday and said "Mum can make Jane  card for her birthday".
With Being a busy Mum running around to sports practices 5 days a week and trying to help out at school and having a few deadlines to meet I find myself in the predicament of have to make a very quick card for said child. Here is one I whipped up the other day on just such an occasion.

To do this simple card all you need is the sampler paper from the Magnolia Lane range.
then simply cut 3 of your favourite images

with the butterfly image I cut the wings out but left his body attached to the paper with a Couture Creations Soft Grip Craft Knife

I then cut from another one of the images a matching flower and a small butterfly from another pattern paper within the range and placed them on my other sample for the card.

I added some Couture Creations Glitzin Glamour to the butterfly and the center of the flower and mounted them with Couture Creations Mounting tape onto some Ultimate Crafts Cardstock. And leaving the center quote glued to the card base.

And that's it... A super quick card for one of those moments when you are just too busy.

Hope to see you at the Brisbane Papercraft Expo in June

Guest Designer Katrina Thompson

#couturecreationsaus #ultimatecrafts

Hello everyone.
Katrina Thompson here and I am excited to be guest designer today for Couture Creations

Today I am working with the beautiful new Sea Breeze Collection Pack  and have created a layout mixing and matching the papers, together with the sticker sheet, netting and some muslin.

I have cut the frame away from, 'A day Fishing' and have
used it to frame 'The Sea Breeze' paper instead.

I then inked the edges of 'The Sea Breeze' piece with a pale green ink pad
before attaching it to the new frame which gives some depth.
Draping some dyed muslin under the netting gives you another layer.
Add the banner from 'Navigating at Sea' with a few trims and muslin also.

Select the images from the 'Navigating at Sea' paper and the sticker sheet
that best suit your layout. Fussy cut, ink, distress then layer around your photo.

I have used the large frame from the 'Beauty' sheet as the border for
my photo as it also ties in with the 12x12 border frame.

Loosen your netting and tuck some more muslin to add more layers.

Magnolia Card by Tracey Rohweder

#couturecreationsaus #ultimatecrafts

Another day, and another chance to share the beauty of Magnolia Lane with you. Thanks for stopping by today - it's nice to see you!
My favourite die in Magnolia Lane collection without a doubt is Rose Cutting.  I love the intricacy of these dies and how versatile they are.  In March I made another project with this die that's on the Couture Creations blog  Here, and I've been wanting to use it again.
And here is the card.  I love how the white die cuts just jump off the card.
White is so classic. And goes with pretty much everything.
So let's get crafting.
I've cut several roses and leaves out in white cardstock.  By using the Quick Release Die Paper the cuts come out with just a tap - despite how detailed the dies are.  A really good idea is to cut extras especially in colours you use regularly.  I have a bowl of die cuts on my desk.  It saves getting my die cut machine out for just one cut and having them in sight means I'm more likely to use them.

I've cut a piece of Magnolia Lane patterned paper that will become the background of my card. Measure your card and cut the paper slightly smaller.  I've chosen a pink paper, but any colour will work.  I've used three of the Rose die, and to make my cuts go further have snipped all the leaves apart.  That way i can tuck them into smaller places, and only use what I want.  I've attached both the roses and leaves with mini glue spots.  I really like to use the glue spots as they adhere the cuts in place straight away,  but are small enough not to be seen. I've put the spots in the middle of the roses and on the end of leaves.  And because only the middle is stuck down, they have a 3D floating appearance.
I've embellished with 3mm pearls (Snow White) in the middle of each rose and scattered some sequins for a bit of sparkle. I've used my Turbo Precision Glue Pen to adhere the sequins. I've also trimmed the overhanging rose in line with the background paper.
I've attached the patterned paper to my white card with double sided tape. Towards the bottom of the card I've added a butterfly from the Ephemera pack mounted on a piece 3D Foam Strip.

And the card is complete.  Perfect for a birthday, thinking of you or even a wedding card.

Your Time to Shine by Sue Smyth

#couturecreationsaus #ultimatecrafts

Hi Bloggers
Today I wanted to share a layout that demonstrates
that Magnolia lane can suit stronger colours.
Often we tend to stick with the paler pastels in the range
but quite deliberately I included some accents of stronger colour.
Like the rosehips for instance, they help bring bolder
colours, this time I have used a burgundy/ pomegranate as my
main  colour...
I hope you give it a go, following the step by steps below.

I love the tassels, I have wanted a tassel die for
years, so I had to include them in Magnolia lane.
Here I show you how you can use them for just
about any colour tassel.

The paper magnolias take on the strong colour
readily, sprinkle with a little glitter and they highlight
the rose hip perfectly.

Add a little Distress ink to the ends of the leaves
for a simple detail that just make the leaves pop!.

A wonderful Imaginarium Designs phrase, is painted with
matt black paint.

The resins are great the way the are, but add
a small amount of gold paint for a burnished
look.

The tassels are cut from white cardstock and then
double embossed with gold embossing powder.
Then colour the insert, whatever colour
you like and replace inside the tassel.
Use a little dimensional magic to hold the
both together.

To start cut 3cm strips of patterned paper, distress edges
score both sides at .5 cm and fold to form a channel.

Cut all of your elements and layer then on the page to
see if they are going to fit and the
composition works.

Tear a V in the white cardstock, and then
flick with red or pomegranate glimmer mist.
Make sure some of the flicks radiate
out from the center.

When you are happy with this, adhere white
cardstock to Floral Fancy patterned paper.
and add the trimmed paper strips to the
page. Butt them up against each other to
form a kind of pin tuck effect.

Spray paper magnolia with water.

Then dip into a puddle of burgundy or pomegranate mist,
rotating the petals until they have
grabbed enough ink.

This will colour the outside petals only and
is called wicking.
Spray a small amount of spray adhesive onto
each of them, and sprinkle with white glitter.

When dry, colour stamens with a yellow marker.

Die cut leaves with Rose cutting die, in pale green
cardstock, add green  ink to the ends of the
leaves

Smear gold paint over the resin element.

To finish, assemble all of your elements .

Happy Crafting
