Hi everyone!

I was very excited and  honoured to have been asked to be a Guest Design Team on the Couture Creations blog for the month of September.

My name is Novita Ferris, I live in Brisbane with my lovely husband who really supports my passion for craft and I am a mother to a teenage boy who really loves playing basketball.
I started scrapbooking in 2015 so really I am just a newbie, but I am already totally addicted!! I don't have a specific style but I really love doing mixed media projects.

I can't describe how happy I am, it's one of my dreams come true and especially to create a mixed media project using the new Couture Creations Anna Griffin Mixed Media Collection. I could not pass up the opportunity of creating for Couture Creations. Oh so heavenly, I had lots fun playing with these quality mixed media products.

So here is my first altered bottle I've ever made.

Sea Breeze Altered Bottle

With my first step I cover the bottle with the Anna Griffin acrylic white gesso,
I added a couple of layers to get a nice coverage on the bottle, then let it dry and then I've just dabbed the gesso with a brush to make more texture on the bottle.

When the gesso was really dry  I started painting.
For the colours I chose blue, brown and purple pigment powders
(Anna Griffin Pigment Set).

I put a little bit of gloss paste in the aluminium foil and added a little bit of coloured pigment powder. Then I dry brushed some glossy paste in pigment powder to provide a bit of depth and some ageing. When you drybrush, you use very little paint on the tips of the brush, and lightly brush the paint here and there randomly all over the bottle. First I painted with the blue colour then brown and purple. I really enjoy this part playing with the colours.

The background colours on the bottle looks so good.
To create some texture I used the Anna Griffin Daisy Batik stencil and matte texture paste. I added green pigment powder and mixed with texture paste and then spread them over the stencil. I also used my finger to apply texture paste in some places.

Once the paint and stencil texture were dried, I wrapped half of the bottle with Sea Breeze cream netting.

The next step I added some flowers and I fussy cut some of the pictures in the patterned paper from collection pack (CO724669) and inked the edges after, then glued all of them together on the bottle.

I added real shells which I painted with gloss paste and pigment powder to give more colour and glued on the bottle

For my finishing touches I mixed the Anna Griffin fine glitters and some gloss paste then I applied it randomly to give  more texture and colour.

With my finger I applied some white gesso in the edges of all the embellishments. Then I mixed water and some black pigment powder, mix with a paintbrush and use this to add some splatters to flowers and randomly.

Here are some photos of my altered bottle at different angles.

I hope you like  what I made and will feel motivated to get creative.
