Explore Imagine the world of Harry Potter by Amanda Baldwin

#couturecreationsaus

Amanda here, and I have something special for all the Harry Potter and or, messy, inky, art lovers out there today!

Okay, it may seem a little dark…..but, if you’re familiar with the novels or movies, you’ll realise that this page is all about mystery and magic! And my daughter absolutely loved this moment, infact, I don’t think there has been a book day yet where she hasn’t wanted to be the famous Harry Potter.
Lots of fun techniques in this layout too…..

Drip some vibrant red, orange & yellow liquid inks onto your cardstock and blast with a hairdryer. Let the inks take their own direction & then allow to completely dry! This is lots of fun! Tip: Prime your page with a coat or two of white gesso to avoid warping and deterioration.

Using The Marriot Premium Embossing Folder: Chain Wire, stamp the pattern across the page with black ink. Wash & dry the folder immediately after use to keep your folder in prime condition.
While the page dries, prepare The Van Roe Decorative Dies. Cut 2 Photo Strips out of black card, and then cut them in half. Also cut a Sign Post & Explore – put aside for later. Attach 3 of your 4 cut photo strips to your Harry Potter photo cluster (as shown) and keep the remaining one for the small journal corner.
Grab some black gesso, and coat an Imaginarium Designs Birdcage, Steam Punk Clock9 Cogs on a Board chipboard. While it dries, use a bristly brush and use the gesso to edge the page. I love black gesso because it gives a really solid matte black finish in only one coat.
While this dries, punch out some black butterflies (or bats).
Assemble Imaginarium Designs chipboard, butterflies, Photo Strip, Explore & Sign Post dies and
attach to page.

Roll paper ‘cigars’ from old book paper and glue into position. Attach miniature bottle & words (illusion & mystere).

Use alphabet & numeral stamps to add “imagine” & other symbols. Black ink pen completes this page, “Follow your dreams”

I know it’s dark, but I love this! It’s such a fun arty page to create – great to bust open the paints & stamps! & best of all, my daughter is convinced that this is how she’d look at Hogwarts!
