Sail Away by Amanda Baldwin

Hi Creators,
Amanda here today, sharing a simple little card tutorial that features the new
This is such a versatile die, and with beach and seaside themes being so on-trend right now, this cute little die will complete any of your
Beside The Sea projects!
Here are 2 cards that I created for upcoming male birthdays……..

As the recipients are older gentlemen I wanted to steer clear of classic red/navy/white & go for some strong colours – hence the green. I also used some patterned paper that reminded me of sand, and combined it with some organic materials to give an authentic ‘beach’ feel.

Here’s how……

1. Select cardstock & papers, cut & score to size.

2.Use your Couture Creations Paper Piercer to place faux stitching holes around the patterned paper. Use a fine point black pen to draw in the ‘stitched’ lines.

Tip: To keep your faux stitching ‘real’, aim to keep the holes evenly spaced between one another.

3. Insert metal brads & attach natural material.
(I used some old milliners netting, but hessian or burlap would also work well here) Attach to card.

4. To keep with the natural look, cut the sail boat from kraft cardstock, & attach to card.

5. Use a hot glue gun to attach shells, faux seaweed (florists’ dried moss) and starfish charm. Be sure to follow all safety precautions when using hot glue.

6. For the finishing touch, add a little twine.

Simple, but so effective!

I love that by combining natural materials & a few metals it gives the card a sense of masculinity, and the sail boat die completes the ensemble.

Hope it inspired you – be sure to let us know what you’re creating with this fantastic die & post it on our Facebook page for all to see!
