Lets go fly a kite Explosion Box By Sue Smyth

#couturecreationsaus

This amazing project is featured in Issue 4 of our  Creative Inspiration Magazine.
Here on the blog we can give you a close up look at Sue's project along with Sue's tutorial so you too can recreate this fabulous exploding box

I love a good explosion box, you can make them any theme and they
are so delightful for the person who receives them.

This cute box is made so much easier to make with Couture Creations dies.
When I saw the The Metricon Sibling die, I just thought of
flying a kite, the little boy is holding his hand up
so invitingly.

I have decorated the top with The Treasures Ornamental Lace die, I have
used the left overs to make the petaled flower.

When you open the box you see a park scene with tow little boys and
their big sister all watching the kite.

Print off the words you want onto cardstock and create a cute
banner.

Here are some nice close ups for you to see the details.

Use dies or a template to create a fold up box from blue cardstock
Cut squares of patterned paper from the
Couture Creations Sew jo paper pack to
fit the sides of box with Square nesting dies.

Create a lid for the box from blue cardstock and cut
panels of patterned paper to line the sides and top
of lid.

Place a panel of patterned paper on the top of
the box, inking the edges of the paper.

Cut 2 strips of Fence die from
white cardstock. Adhere by
overlapping the ends and apply glue
to both pickets and hold together.

Fold the fence to it the raised square in the centre.
Adhere in place with hot glue.

Create as many siblings as you want, from white cardstock, cut two of
each shape and glue together to make a sturdy shape. Ink edges with
coloured ink.
Apply dimensional magic and
coat with white glitter

Cut two kite shapes with a die or template, glue together.
Decorate with small pieces of patterned paper.
Paint a thin piece of wire white, and sprinkle
with glitter. Insert the wire into the adhered shapes.

Cut a small pieces of embroidery thread and tie
onto wire. Trim to look like small bows.

Emboss leaves with Jazmyne folder, blend green ink
over the leaves and pink ink over the tops of the leaves.
Fussy cut the leaves.

Cut 2 ...corners from white cardstock and cover with
Couture Creations glitzin' glamour glitter glue

Create flowers from the left over pieces of Ornamental lace, ink all of the edges for
a bit of colour.
Use a hot glue to adhere petals to a
circle of cardstock. Place a yellow punched sunflower
shape in the centre and Couture Creations adhesive pearl.

Adhere corners, flower and leaves to the top of the box for a finishing touch.
