Christmas Mini Canvas By Sue Smyth

#couturecreationsaus

For the past few years I have made a mini canvas that
sits on a little wooden easel, at Christmas. These look fabulous as a decoration
at Christmas and are small enough to fit anywhere.
You can also give it as a gorgeous gift and personalize
it to suit the recipient.

To start I have  used a 5 x 5 inch canvas, if you cannot find one
simply cut down a board canvas or make your own from
chipboard, as it is covered with paper towel for texture it does
not matter what it started out like.

Adhere paper towel and paint with gesso, then spray with
coloured inks. I have added a little extra gesso around the edges
when the inks are dry for a snowy look.

Add some snow texture paste or puffy style paint to the bottom
for a snowy field and allow to dry.
Then spray with adhesive and sprinkle with large white
glitter for sparkle.
Add extra sparkle by smearing over Crystalina Glitzin' Glamour.

Die cut small trees in green cardstock and flick over white paint for snow.
Die cut large tree in white and green, take the white outline shape and
insert over the green inner, smear with dimensional magic
and white glitter (this helps keep the two shapes adhered together)

Create a little scene with trees, snowflakes and a snow man,
use 3 D foam tape to attach trees.
Add Imaginarium Designs chipboard corners and more gesso for snow.

Then create a scroll from white cardstock and stamp or
write a Christmas greeting along it.

Top Tip
To create a scroll cut white cardstock to 1 cm, trim to fit the canvas.
Add a little double sided tape to each end, peel off backing.
Use a bamboo skewer to wind ends around, hold the wound bit and pull the
skewer out carefully but firmly.
This looks best when you are a little rustic with the winding.
Ink and distress edges as desired.

I have added details in the background with a white gel or paint pen.
And a little blue metallic paint to the edges.

Add 2mm Gemstones over the trees for more glitter and bling.
