Gift Box with Shobi

Hello crafters!

I’m always looking for little gift boxes where I can make ahead, store flat and requires minimal assembly when needed. This cute box is a perfect size for home baked goodies, chocolates or a gift card.

Measurements given here are for use with Mini score board.

Cut Naughty or Nice Sheet 7 to 6”x 12”. Score and burnish at 2”

With 2” folded, score again at 3¾” . Rotate paper 180°and score at ½” and 4¼”. These score lines create the sides of the box.

Rotate paper 90° (check paper design orientation if necessary) and score at ½”, 1” and 4½”. Flip paper over to finish scoring to the end. These score lines create the lids and the base of the box.

Fold and burnish on all score lines. Cut and remove all shaded areas.

To make the tuck notches for box closure, I cut a narrow slither at the centres of both 2” panels. I find it’s easiest to fold your flaps over and cut the narrow notch in each of the centre past the ½” score line . Valley fold the triangles and glued the flaps over to the inside of the box. This will give the lid extra stability. I usually do not measure but if you wish see image.

Glue the sides of the box together and your box can be stored flat at this stage.

To assembly your box, glue/tape the base flaps together, then tuck in the sides where the valley fold triangles are and insert the ½” into the notches. This will secure the lids without glue/tape.

And viola! You got yourself a cute little gift box to embellish!

I cut and foil Naughty or Nice Ho Ho Ho sentiment in red foil on a Kraft card stock. Mount it on foam tapes and secure to the front of my box. Add some holly leaves (from an old Couture Creations’ Christmas die set), mini white bells and a jute bow. Splatter with pearl white pigment powder (pre-mixed with water and glue) and box is ready to be filled. I lined mine with food safe greaseproof paper and filled it with delicious choc brownies.
