Elf in Stocking card with Cheryl

Hello everyone, it's Cheryl here with you today. I would like to showcase the new Deck the Halls collection from Couture Creations, and in particular, the Stamp & Colour Outline Stamps. The one I've used today is Elves and Stockings (4pc). In this busy world, we all need some relaxation, and colouring is something I find extremely relaxing. I also love the end result, which to me, is quite satisfying. I don't know about you, but I absolutely adore elf images, and love to colour them. Today I've used traditional Christmas colours, but will more than likely colour this little fellow again in more non-traditional colours - just for something different. I do like to get a lot of depth to my colouring, and therefore use several colours. I have photographed (below) the colours I've used in this particular image, but they should be used only as a guide. I know we all have our favourite ways to colour, and also favourite colours, so don't feel these are the colours you must use with this image. (The packaging has suggested colours too.)

I'd like to pass on a tip I've been using for years, and that is to make certain your image is clearly stamped before you begin colouring, then restamp again at the end for a crisp, clear finish. For this image, I used the Black Couture Creations Stamp and Colour Outline Ink Pad for Alcohol Ink Colouring. (Other inks may bleed with alcohol markers.) I began by stamping the image using my Couture Creations Precision Stamp Press, and left the image in place. I pushed my Blending Card right into the corner, so I could put it precisely back in place when I finished colouring, as I do prefer to restamp at the end to ensure the image is still clear. (See next image.)

When I'd completely finished colouring and had restamped my image, I trimmed the coloured image down, and layered it up on my card using red, gold, and white cardstock - all traditional Christmas colours. The result is a really simple card with the wow factor. *You could add a greeting, but I didn't want to cover up any of the gorgeous image, or the colouring.
