A Decorative Candle with Alicia

Hi everyone,
Alicia here and welcome to my post today which is a Decorative Embellished Candle that would be perfect as a Gift or Special Occasion Table Setting.  The products I have used just happen to be from the new Special Occasions collection from Couture Creations.  This collection would also make the most beautiful Invitations for a Wedding, Engagement, Christening, Anniversary or Special Birthday.

I have used a white candle that I purchased from Target, however any pillar candle in white or cream would work just as well.

I started by choosing the papers, foil and cutting dies that worked together to create a simple and elegant design.  I added Diecut'N Bond to the back of the Silver Damask Paper before diecutting it with the Swirling Banners Die.  The addition of the Diecut'N Bond makes assembly simpler and easier, and helps keep the intricate border in place.

I prefer to use Embossing, Foil & Glitter Tape to adhere the layers that don't have the Diecut'N Bond.  I also find that adhering each layer separately prevents buckling - which will occur if the layers are stuck together prior to adding them to the Candle.

I foiled two identical embellishments with Matte Gold Foil and a limited release Hot Foil Stamp to hide the join in the band layers.  If you would like to purchase this Hot Foil Stamp which is part of a three piece set please contact your local Couture Creations Stockist.

I added Adhesive Pearls to the two embellishments before adhering them together with the Embossing, Foil & Glitter Tape - making them easier to glue to the Candle in the next step.

Helmar 450 Glue is super strong and takes some time to dry, allowing for a bit of movement to get embellishments into the perfect spot before they dry.  This benefit also requires some patience as the creation process really needs to stop until the 450 Glue is dry before moving the Candle around.

Whilst waiting for the Glue to dry the Butterfly layers could be assembled using 3D Glue Spots and Foam Tape.  The Foam Tape is between the solid layers and the 3D Glue Spots are the best choice for sticking the Butterfly to the Candle.  There are two solid layers and one lace layer to the Butterfly - using the same papers as in the other elements of the Candle.

It was really exciting as the elements came together and the finished Candle took shape - just the drying Glue was holding up the process.
