Dimensional Christmas Cards with a Twist by JULIE SCHINKEL

Hi everyone! It's Julie here back on the blog today sharing some dimensional Christmas cards that I created using stamps to create my own patterned paper with a twist.

I've taken the Poinsettia stamp from the Cardinal and Poinsettia Stamp Set and stamped around the edge of a 5x5 inch piece of white cardstock. For the second card I have used the Holly stamp from the To Be Jolly Stamp Set and repeated the process. Start with stamping each corner then fill in the middle areas as shown.

These stamps have been coloured with Distress Ink markers but you could use your preferred colouring mediums such as Chameleon, Copics, Spectrum Noir or even pencils.

Next I've worked out where I want my sentiment to be on the card. Lightly mark above and below the die on the horizontal card and to the left and right of the vertical card. Cut into three strips with your paper trimmer.

Adhere the top and bottom/left and right pieces to some coordinating cardstock in the colour of choice. For these examples I have used Ultimate Crafts Shamrock for the red card and Ultimate Crafts Rubelite for the green card. Mat the middle piece onto it's own piece of the same colour cardstock and trim down. The ends have been cut right down so there is no cardstock showing and it aligns with the other two pieces. Adhere to the card making sure to line up the stamped images as close as possible prior to cutting.

I've then die cut the Merry Christmas and Jingle all the Way sentiments using glitter cardstock. I've used a different colour glitter cardstock to the matting so it pops more on the card. I've also die cut these sentiments from craft foam and adhered to the glitter die cut. You could add some Die Cut & Bond to your glitter cardstock prior to die cutting, this will make adhering to the craft foam a little easier if gluing is not your thing.

For the inside of the card I have used the same poinsettia and holly stamps that were used on the card front, only this time I stamped the image in the top left and bottom corners. I used grey ink for these to make them appear softer. I've taken sentiments from the To Be Jolly stamp set and stamped in the middle of the card.

Add some 2mm gemstones and some shimmer pen around the images as shown in the pictures and the cards are finished. You can use the colour scheme as I have or any other combination such as pink and blue, purple and silver, gold and silver. Or do a full set of all colours. The choice is yours :)
