Cone of flowers card with Lea-Anne
Hello all and welcome back for my turn on the blog for the Couture Creations Design Team. .
Today I am going to share with you how to create a birthday card with a cone of mini flowers.
This card will also work well as a Sympathy or Get Well Soon card.
I made this card for a friend in my card making group as she loves flowers and over the top cards like this one. In our card group we don’t give each other gifts on our birthdays. We opted to rather give each other a stunning card coupled with an extra kit to make this same card herself.
I used to the Couture Creations Peaceful Peonies paper collection, Peaceful Peonies ephemera collection and the Couture Creations Go Cut and Emboss machine to cut the die’s.
For this project you will need the Peaceful Peonies 12x12 scrapbook pages 03 and a 15cmx10cm green matt and a 14,5cmx9,5cm maroon matt.
I also used a dolly die cut, a circle die and skeleton leaves from my collection.
I used the mini leaves die (black) from the Le Petit Jardin collection.
I cut the dolly from white vellum and the circle and mini leaves from the pink vellum.
The skeleton leaves where cut from rose gold mirror card.
Using your Go cut and emboss machine, die cut the dolly from the white vellum and the circle from the pink velum.
You will also need a collection of mini flowers, skeleton leaves, mini rose, mini lilies, paper leaves, organza ribbon, feather, stamens, gauze and sisal or angle hair.
You will also need the Sentiment Sending Birthday Wishesfrom the Ephemera collection.
Using your Go cut and emboss machine, die cut the Le petit Jardin mini leaves from the pink vellum.
To start building your card, trim the matt cards and secure to the front of your greeting card.
You can also use a conventional paper dolly for this cone.
Gently roll the white dolly to form a cone shape.
Hold the cone in place by adding a glue dot or glue at the back of the cone.
Roll the pink circle vellum also into a cone shape and slide inside the white dolly cone.
Secure at the pink vellum at back with glue, ensuring that the glue does not show through the vellum.
Holdup the cone by resting the bottom opening over the top of your glue bottle.
Slip the gauze inside the cone, place a dash of glue at the back of the cone to hold the gauze in place.
The gauze will act as an anchor to hold the flower stems in place.
Using the sisal, rest on top of the gauze and opening of the cone.
Don’t stress to much at this point to try and glue in place.
As you start inserting the flowers and embellishments, the sisal will be held in place and become more secure.
Using another glue bottle, add a bit of glue to the bottom ends of each of your flowers and gently slip into the cone.
Start by arranging and inserting the larger flowers and feather.
Then add the smaller buds, lilies, stamens and the skeleton leaves.
Finish off by adding the mini green leaves then the pink vellum leaves.
Ideally you want to rather keep the bouget light and airy and not compact the flowers too much.
Finish off you card by adding the sentiment.
Raise with foam dots and secure to the front of your card.
Fold and add the green organza bow to the bottom right of your cone.
Add mini buds to incorporate the bow into the bouget arrangement.
To finalise your card, you can add some mini pearls or diamante. Well Done, enjoy!
