Merry Christmas Placemat Layout with Lea-Anne
Hello all,
Welcome back to my turn on the blog.
This time I am going to share with you how I made the Christmas layout using the Naughty or Nice paper collection, the Couture Creations mini guillotine and Go press and Foil machine.
As something different, I created a collage of favourite family photos and used this as a placemat for each person as a favour on our Christmas dinner table. So as to use the placement as part of this layout, I reduced it to a jumbo photo size.
Double bonus as no wasted effort getting the opportunity to use the placement in my layout as a great memory.
Photo requirements: Jumbo 15cmx10cm photo and 7.5cmx5.5cm photo
For this layout I used a 30cmx30cm natural card as my base, a green card stock,
the CO726896 12 x 12 page for the top page and the CO726896 page for my gold matting.
I also used gold heat activated foil with the beautiful Ornate Christmas Tree hot foil stamp.
The evening branch from Le Petit Jardin collection cut from red glitter foam.
The leaves from the Peaceful Peonies collection cut from green mirror board and copper glitter foam. I pre-cut these ahead of time.
As embellishments, I used old music sheet paper, wooden chipboard cut-outs, a skeleton candle cut from white glitter foam and the 2019 number cut from copper glitter foam. I also used poinsettia flowers, organza ribbon and material Merry Christmas ribbon.
Gauze stained ahead of time with tea. I also used the Merry Christmas tag and holly die cuts from the Ephemera collection.
The 25 brad and Noel brad and tag is from my stash.
Now to get started building your layout.
Turn your Go Press and Foil machine to heat up. Once heated, the green light needs to be showing, place the Ornate heat active foil stamp face up onto the heating mat, add the gold foil, with the shiny side facing down on top of the stamp, then add the gold card on top.
Place a spare piece of card above all to ensure that the foil does not transfer to the lid of your machine. Remove and run through your GoCut and Emboss machine. Carefully lift the card and foil off the stamp to reveal your foiled Christmas tree. Fussy cut the edge of the tree. Set machines aside.
Trim the brown natural card to 30cm x 30cm. Trim the CO726896 pattern paper to 29.5cmx29.5cm and secure to the brown card with the white strip running from left to right.
Using the flip side of the CO726898 pattern paper trim the matt your jumbo photo first with the gold card then with the green card. For your smaller photo, trim the green matt and then the gold matt to fit the photo.
Using 3D foam tape, raise the jumbo photo and secure onto the white strip, just off centre.
Secure the smaller photo, overlapping the white strip, at the bottom left of the page. Secure the material ribbon behind the natural brown card, and bring forward to just cover the bottom of the matt card and eventually your photo. Use a glue dot to secure the ribbon to the right of the photo matt. Your embellishment will cover this ribbon end. Secure the music sheet in-between the two photo matts at a slight angle. To form a smaller collected, add a smaller music sheet at the top right of the main photo. Just above the smaller photo, add the tree die cut, overlap with the foiled Christmas tree on top of the main music sheet.
On the left side of the page, add the organza ribbon just below the music sheet, overlapping the ribbon. Also add a small piece of the same organza ribbon to the top right of the main photo. Add the tea stained gauze overlapping the ribbon and music notes.
Add the wood snowflake and bell on top of the organza ribbon and gauze. Add the wooden holly at the bottom of the two trees, ensuring that it does not overlap onto the smaller photo matt. Add the mini wooden snowman to the top right of the jumbo photo. Finish off by adding the large poinsettia flower, then the skeleton candle, the evening branch and mini leaves to the main collection on the left and the mini collection on the top right.
Add the mini poinsettia flowers to the main collect on the left and the mini collection on the top right.
Using the tag from the ephemera collection, add the noel brad, raise with foam and secure at the bottom right of the main photo. Using the holly dies cuts from the ephemera collection, trim and add them randomly to both the main collection and smaller collection to close-up any holes.
Finish off by adding the 25 brad to the top of the tree.
If desired, you can add more mini diamante or pearls to the layout to give it more sparkle.
Congratulations, you have finished your Merry Christmas placemat layout.
Enjoy!
