Happy Birthday Card with Cheryl
Hi, it's Cheryl here, and today I have a card that's a little different.
It's also slightly more complicated than most of my recent cards.
For this card I've used scraps of Peaceful Peonies. It is such beautiful paper, and I can't help but use it all the time.
I began with a black card base and scored it down the centre. Then I added a small strip of design paper, covering the centre of the cardbase, but leave a small gap top and bottom. We'll be doing the same thing with the next layer.
Next I cut two pieces of black cardstock, as can be seen below. I have a gap of about 2cm where the design paper is showing, but if you want to make it wider, go ahead. (My scrap was only enough to cover about half the base, but you may have more paper to play with.)
I then added white cardstock, leaving a small gap around all the edges so the black showed through.
In hindsight, I would emboss those white panels. The card is fine as is, but embossing would jazz it up a little more. I added the black panels to the cardbase using foam tape to give it some height.
Next I fussy cut a flower from the Peaceful Peonies collection, adding foam tape to it as well, and secured it across the gap as shown. I mounted the 'happy birthday' (from the Peaceful Peonies Ephemera) onto black cardstock and secured. Lastly, I added some gold drops, and my card was done.
I hope you give this easy design a try. I'm sure you can create your own versions as well!
